Prevent drain clogs with the environmental funnel

When cooking oil and grease are poured down the drain, they solidify and cause blockages, which can lead to flooding in sinks and water damage.

The Environmental Funnel is like a clever device that helps us avoid pouring cooking oil down the drain. You attach it to a PET bottle and pour leftover cooking oil into it. Then you can close the lid so it doesn’t smell or leak.

When the bottle is full, we recycle the cooking oil properly. You leave the full PET bottle at the recycling center where you dispose of hazardous waste. The Environmental Funnel can then be used again on another bottle. By closing the loop and collecting the cooking oil, it can be used in the production of biodiesel or products such as soap, candles, detergent, and rubber.

You will receive the Environmental Funnel from the board when you move into our association. If you haven’t received an Environmental Funnel or if it’s lost, you can contact the board, and we’ll make sure you get a new one.

If you want to learn more about the Environmental Funnel, you can watch the video below from Ideando or read more about it on their website, miljotratten.com.

Tips to avoid drain clogs:
  • Wipe out the frying pan with uncolored paper towels after cooking and dispose of them in the food waste bin.
  • Do the same with the pot when melting butter or popping popcorn.
  • Also, collect up frying oil and oil from items like tuna and sun-dried tomatoes in a plastic bottle. You can easily do this with the Environmental Funnel.
